• Cameras

The Cameras dialog allows you to name the video source, configure options for each camera (such as video input format, contrast, brightness, etc), and select which cameras to use for cycling.

The Cameras Dialog

• Camera Name

Type the name of your camera here. This is the name that will be used for the camera throughout Oculus.
• Cycle

Use this checkbox to add the camera to the list of cameras to be used when cycling through the cameras.
• Status

Gives status information about the camera.
• Setup

Brings up the video settings dialog for Video cameras.

For video hardware, this will bring up the QuickTime Video Settings dialog.

Selecting the pop-up menu at the top of the dialog will allow you to select the other Video Settings options panels which are Image and Source. The Image panel will allow you to modify the brightness, contrast and hue. The Source panel will allow you to choose the video input source - either S-Video or Composite, NTSC, PAL or SECAM, and the video digitizer to use (if you have more than one.)

• Trash

Removes the Camera. At startup, Oculus will automatically scan your computer for new cameras. So, if you accidentally delete a camera, don't worry, you can get it back by restarting Oculus.



• Take Picture

Takes a picture immediately. If the camera is Offline, it will simply update the display to what would have been sent to the FTP site, and will reset the timeout value. If the camera is Online, it will compress and send the picture to the FTP location or save the file to disk.

Use this menu command to send a picture if the Trigger... time value is set to manual.




• Create Movie Now

Creates a movie based upon the current settings. If you are just setting up a movie document and want to verify that your settings are correct, you can use this option to force Oculus to create the movie without waiting for the current frame or minute timeouts. Create Movie Now only saves or uploads how many frames have already been saved.




• Offline

Allows you to put the WebCam online or offline. You can also use the button at the top of the Main Window




• Show/Hide Log

Shows or Hides the Log window. See the Troubleshooting section for details on how to read the log.




• Show/Hide Toolbar

Shows or Hides the Toolbar window, which may be used to access the settings within Oculus.

• Show/Hide Camera

Shows or Hides the camera preview window.
